AYM X NextGen Leadership Youth Camp: Nov 2025

What does it mean to be a leader? That was the question at the heart of this year's AYM x NextGen Leadership Camp, where six JHU NextGen students spent the day investing in local high school students and helping them discover their leadership potential.

From the moment students arrived, the energy in the room was contagious. Through icebreakers, team challenges, and interactive activities, participants were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, work together, and see leadership as something anyone can develop. Our JHU members were there every step of the way, leading small group discussions, cheering students on during activities, and creating a welcoming environment where everyone felt seen and heard.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was hearing from our chapter president, Noah, who delivered an inspiring keynote about his own journey through college and leadership. He encouraged students to embrace challenges, stay true to their values, and recognize that growth often happens outside of their comfort zones. His story resonated with many of the students and set the tone for the rest of the camp.

Later in the day, our JHU members took the stage for a college student panel, where they answered questions ranging from choosing a major and balancing academics to making friends and getting involved on campus. Their honest conversations, personal stories, and practical advice gave high school students a glimpse into college life while reminding them that they don't have to have everything figured out before taking the next step.

As the day came to a close, students reflected on what they had learned and left with action plans, new friendships, and greater confidence in their ability to lead. Watching our JHU members serve as mentors, facilitators, and role models throughout the event was a powerful reminder of what NextGen is all about: equipping today's leaders to invest in tomorrow's!
